Thank you

Thank you, everyone, for your kind words of comfort.  It's amazing how much you can love an animal.  They truly become a special part of your family.

We no longer have any doubt that it was definitely the right time for Beau.  His hind legs finally gave out completely at the vet's office, and he was no longer able to walk at all anymore.

We adopted Beau in 2006, when he was around 6 years old, after he was transported to Wisconsin from a shelter in Kentucky where he would have been euthanized.  He was rescued and transported as part of a program called the PetSmart Rescue Waggin*, which has saved over 50,000 dogs since the program started in 2004.  I wrote about it once before in a post in 2009 (Gone Too Soon), in case you're interested in learning more about the program or would like to consider adopting an older dog yourself.

* I've tried to add a link, but it doesn't work properly, so you can simply Google PetSmart Rescue Waggin to get to their website

  2. Your Beau was a beautiful dog & I know you will greatly miss him. My dog, Gertie Girl, was adopted from the SPCA 13 years ago when she was around one year old. She is my great buddy & follows me everywhere. My thoughts are with you.

  4. Angela...so sorry Beau has left his body, but I know you still feel his spirit....Sometimes I think dogs are the highest form of life on the planet...they give so much and ask so little in return.
Big hug from me to you...xo
