It turns out I wasn't quite ready to be back to blogging and visiting others in Blogland quite yet. I can't seem to sit still for very long. It's also been too hot and humid to paint or stitch or sit at the computer much the last few days.
I did manage to get a bit of stitching done. While I was preparing a photo to post here, I started to play around with the image. Each change brought out different details and textures of the fabrics and stitching, so I made a photo collage of some of the images. I'm still loving the rough edges and loose threads of that ripped denim.
If you read the last post, you know I've started having problems with my digital camera. It's been such a wonderful camera, but I guess 7 years is a long time to have a camera these days. Today it thought it was December of 2004, so at least we're moving in the right direction. I tried resetting the date to the current date today, but something seems to have gone wrong with the camera's memory. It seems I'll need to reset the date every time I turn the camera on now. It might be time to look for a camera I can put on my birthday/Christmas wishlist.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a good, dependable, not-too-expensive camera, with a nice zoom, but one that would also take crisp macro shots? I'd really appreciate any input you might have!

I love my little Cannon Powershot, A3100IS, Angela, which was not expensive and is extremely easy to use, takes GREAT pix, and the body is red, my favorite color! xxoo, sus
ReplyDeleteAngela, this looks great and I like your photo collage.
ReplyDeleteI love my canon point and shoot. I got the cheapest and it is great, so I am sure if you spend a little more you can get a really good one. The man at the store said digital cameras are only made to live about 4 years, so 7 is really good!
Stay cool.
Love.

Thank you both! My current camera is a Canon Powershot, too, and my daughter has a newer one that takes gorgeous photos. I'm leaning towards getting a Canon again.

It's cooler again this morning. Yay!

i would stick with canon too! i keep my little powershot nearby, but i also have a canon powershot SX10IS and it takes crispy clear pictures. (just doesn't fit in my pocket)
ReplyDeletewhenever you show up on your blog your friends will be here. :^)

Hi Angela-wish I could give advice on cameras. I have a Kodak EasyShare which does me fine for the time being.
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying your experiments and as my upcoming trip to Maine is on my mind, I can't help but think that this patch looks a bit like a map of that state!
I read that you are researching lots of stitches. I'm curious about what you mean. I usually find that a few basic stitches go a long way...stem, back, running, chain...
Thank you for the camera suggestions!
ReplyDeleteThere are so many fabulous stitches! I had no idea until I started to do a little research. You can see these more elaborate stitches in vintage pieces, and in crazy quilts.
The stitch I used to edge the leaf applique is a pekinese stitch. That's a simple back stitch with a wrap. I do love the simple, tried-and-true stitches, but I'm really enjoying learning these unusual stitches, too!
Hi Angela,
ReplyDeleteA couple of years ago I got a Fujifilm FinePix S1800. It is not an SLR but does a good job with zoom and macro shots. You can set it for auto or manual, too, and various degrees of sharpness. Whichever camera you decide on, hope you get an early Christmas present!
i agree with kj... whenever you show up, we'll be here... : )

Angela, we just bought a Canon Powershot S100. I really like the clarity of it and the low light photos are unbelievably good. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThanks soooo much everyone! My camera is really not taking good photos most of the time anymore. I think I'll be putting a newer Canon on my Christmas list, and I have a feeling Christmas might come early for me this year!

Tolle Stickerei! Ich mag auch gerne Sachen reparieren, sie werden dadurch zur Kunst.Außerdem ist es eine Meditation.
ReplyDeleteSchön, was Du am Rand geschrieben hast bezüglich Beau - immer in meinem Gedächtnis!
wow, looks like most your blog friends like the little cannons, such a great thing to know. i use a larger camera with separate lens... but if i was not selling photography i would have a small pocket camera, they work wonderfully! i actually started my business with a Pentax pocket camera.
ReplyDeletelovely to see your stitching....
Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had the patience (and skill) to use a larger camera with separate lenses. I still have a really nice 35mm camera like that tucked away somewhere. . . A pocket-sized point-and-shoot is all I need, unless I'm going to get more serious about photography. Maybe someday!
Angela, I love your stitching, what a wonderful way to get through this hot summer August.
ReplyDeleteI love my Canon too. It is a PowerShot SX20, and has a really great zoom. When my other one died two summers ago I got this one. I am sticking with Cannon!
