The old and the new

"She moved at her own pace
and took her time
as though there were something yet to be learned:
some threshold,
which once she crossed over,
she would no longer feel her way,
but fly."
~ Rainer Maria Rilke

Welcome to 2013 on the Angela Recada blog!  After more than 4 years of blogging here, I'm ready to change how and why I blog.  Art will be the focus here more than ever from now on.  And because I want my art to be uniquely my own, there will be times when I will need to retreat for a while from the internet, so that I can pursue my own vision, without any outside influences.  I've come to realize that this way works best for me.

I've been looking at my art and photos from the past 5 years, and I've rediscovered some ideas I started but didn't pursued.  I'm really looking forward to pursuing some of these ideas much further.

This year I will also finally give attention to many of the interests I've pushed aside for much of my life.  These interests include storytelling, mythology and ancient history, ancient symbolism, and women throughout history.  I have a lot of reading ahead of me!  And I will be exploring how I can incorporate these interests into my visual art, as well.
I feel like everything is finally falling together,
the old and the new,
and all the detours in between!

One of my favorite things is to find exciting and inspirational artists who are new to me, and I've found a few more over the past few weeks.  Here are links to my current favorites.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Aneth Huyette-Patay -  http://www.maplaneth.com/galerie.htm
Kristin Vestgård -  http://kristinvestgard.co.uk/

Thanks for stopping by.  I'll be in touch!

  1. Angela - what a wonderful post on so many levels. I can relate completely to the need to move away from the computer at times. Sometimes I feel like I look at so much work that I can no longer see my vision.
But that being said, your links/artists are fabulous! I especially love Aneth Huyette- Patay and wish she had a 'translate' on her blog.

Good luck to you with the old and the new and the journey this year. I look forward to seeing it all.

  2. Hi sweetie! You go girl! I hate that term, but in this case it is fitting.
I love that you are doing your thing.
As you have probably noticed I made art my focus this last year and will continue that focus. I wish you all the best in all you do.
Thank you for the links, I will have to come back.
    Love and hugs,
    xoxo

  3. Hello Angela, how strange that you mentioned ancient history and symbolism. This year I'm going to write a series about our ancient calendar Primstaven, explain the symbols and what they ment for people. I especially look forward to look into what people made all the signs mean, other than being a Catholic Saints day.
Good luck to you with all new tasks.

  6. It's right to let things unfold at a
normal pace-no agonizing that we don't post for a week. Heck,I take longer sometimes to Hoover the rugs!! This blog stuff takes some fitting around our lives
rather than the other way about, IMHO.

And your work is blossoming; love the forms, pure colors, brave shapes and freedom of movement.
Will visit back here often, Patty

For about a year I have been down the Rabbit Hole..it has been a huge learning curve and I feel like I am just now emerging..back into this reality...so I am regrouping too..renewing my commitment to things that are important to my growth...
Thank for being an added inspiration...xo
